Seated Liberty Dollar

In 1840, the first Seated Liberty Dollar was minted. All United States silver coins at that time, the Liberty Dollar included, shared the same design on the obverse, or front. Christian Gobrecht was the coin's designer. Holding he Union Shield emblazoned with the word "LIBERTY" in her right hand, and a long staff in her left, Lady Liberty is pictured on the coin seated on a rock.

An eagle with the Union Shield crossing its breast is the design on the reverse side of the Seated Liberty Dollar. Clutched in the eagle's right talons is an olive branch and in its left, three arrows. In a curve at the upper portion of the coin the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" appear, while below the eagle at the coin's bottom is inscribed "ONE DOL."

The coin's mintmark will tell us which of the four mints the Liberty Dollar was struck, in San Francisco (S), New Orleans (O), Carson City (CC), and Philadelphia (no mintmark.) Look for the mintmark on the reverse side of the coin, just below the talons of the eagle.

Examples of the most valuable of the Seated Liberty Dollars include the 1851-O, with only one example known to exist, and the fifteen examples of the 1870-S known to exist. It seems odd, but the 1851-O can not be found in the venerable Guidebook of United States Coins. The 1851, 1852, 1858, 1871-CC, 1872-CC and 1873-CC are examples of other very rare issues. During the 1860s and 1870s, the 1858 was produced only as a proof restrike, while estimates put between 50 and 500 each of the 1871-CC, 1872-CC, and 1873-CC as being still in existence.

In the 1870s, the 1866 No Motto Seated Liberty Dollar was struck along with a quarter and a half-dollar No Motto, an interesting bit of information for coin collectors. Only two are confirmed to exist, and these were both produced for just one particular person. It is normally accepted that these No Motto coins are patterns.

There were very few little silver coins produced during the Civil War years of 1861 to 1865 because of the scarcity of gold and silver.

As gathering an entire set would prove much too difficult and expensive, the Seated Liberty Dollar is held in high regard by type collectors. Most collectors will agree that the 1871 and 1872 Philadelphia strikes are those specimens most easy to find.

I thought it'd be neat to go back and put together all of my finds from the carnival grounds as it turned out to be a splendid place. Also, I'm experimenting with a new intro that i wrote and played into my cell phone. Audio is crap but i think it fits well.

What amp and sub should i get?

Question by boo: What amp and sub should i get?
I have about 500 dollars to spend on a sub and amp. I have alpine r type speakers already. I have a jeep liberty, and i would like a that would fit under the seat since i use my trunk a lot, although the amp will be in the trunk. I was looking at the Pioneer 8inch shallow sub, and enclosure. And for the amp i was looking at the Gt-50 Boston Acoustics amp. Also i really don't want to change my head unit, since it has a 6 disc cd changer in it.

I would invest in Kicker subs, great quality for the money! and they supply more power then they are rated at, my friend had a single 10" sub and with the right box it changed my heart beat, literally!
The square subs that they make(they're called solos) are very unique and have great sound and you can find them for fairly good prices! They will certainly impress the friends and you get great quality! For the size of a subwoofer i would say go with a 12 inch! anything bigger then a 12 inch and your not getting the best sound you can from inside you car, the guy down the street is though. Sense you want to put the sub(s) in your cab i would possibly suggest going with a 10" or maybe two 10s you can find some killer deals on Kicker solos!
If you don't go with a kicker another good idea would be a 13" JL Audio subwoofer! Top of the line right there! you don't see many 13" subs, but I'll tell you now, JL audio is ahead of the curve making those!
also if you want to go with two subs go check out www.crutchfield.com they have 2 for 1 subs

For an Amp, i would say get a mono block amp even best quality for a sub. if you're looking into running your speakers through the amp as well i would go with a four channel amp.

I hope I helped!
